The Krugerrand Title

The South African Krugerrand is the worlds most popular gold bullion coin. It is a great method to invest in gold while keeping your investment liquid and easily tradable.

Open Earth Labs aim to purchase and keep in trust Krugerrand Coins. These Krugerrands will be insured and stored in trusted vaults at the refinery. We will generate titles per coin and these titles will be represented by a Krugerrand NFT. The owner of this NFT is entitled to the Krugerrand Coin associated to it and they can at any point produce the NFT with full KYC documentation to Open Earth Labs and collect their Krugerrand.

We do this to explore the possibilities of physical objects being owned with NFT's. The exploration will assess how these physical assets trade digitally, are used or claimed and what interest there is in owning such an asset.

With Krugerrands being a good store of gold we wish to see how a stored asset is valued in the market and how the market responds to owning physical in-trust assets digitally.
